About the work
Before the other face: follow the upward gaze of the original Ecce Homo in Borja, attributed to Elías García Martínez, through its devotional setting and the unexpected international story of Cecilia Giménez’s 2012 repair attempt. English narration, original photographic details and a brief contemporary 3D interpretation invite careful looking. A credited documentary photograph shows the repainted state of 2012 during the account of the intervention, before returning to the original gaze.
