About the work
Titian’s Bacchanal of the Andrians, painted in 1523–1526 for Alfonso d’Este’s camerino in Ferrara. Philostratus’s mythical stream of wine and a French drinking canon attributed to Adriaen Willaert connect colour, movement and music. Prado distinguishes the sleeping nymph from Ariadne, whose abandonment belongs to Naxos.
