About the work
Two mothers meet, while their sons appear years later in the distant landscape. Discover how The Visitation tells two moments within one painting, designed by Raphael and executed by Giulio Romano according to the Prado's current catalogue. Commissioned for the Branconio family chapel in San Silvestro, L'Aquila; acquired by Philip IV in 1655. Museo Nacional del Prado, P000300.
